Setanta Africa Sports Network launches Sports TV Uganda

Sports TV Uganda Limited is a privately owned television station, broadcasting sports programs from around the world, as a part of Setanta Africa Sports Network. The station is set to broadcast 24/7 and is free to air.

Preliminary tests show that it is currently reaching within 35km from its antennae on top of Kololo Hill, while broadcasting at 1/6 transmitter capacity. Once it goes full 3kW, it is expected to be seen within the 100km radius.

Several shops and bars in town have already tuned in, and viewers seem to be delighted to learn that the station will only broadcast sports. The Ugandan population is passionate about sport, mainly football, and during the football season there is no match day without high turnout in public places that show live games. Sports TV will hopefully inspire Ugandans to visit each other at their homes, and turn TV viewing into a family affair.

During the three weeks of test broadcast, Sports TV will commence a full commercial broadcast.
