The Sandton Convention Centre received the EXSA Excellence Award for Best Exhibitions Venue 2008 marking the fourth consecutive year that the congress centre has taken this award. The EXSA 2008 Awards Evening was held at Nasrec Expo Centre on the 13 November 2008.
“Sandton Convention Centre has scooped this award for the past four years. This confirms that we are continuously maintaining our standards to host successful exhibitions at this magnificent venue. We are proud of our track record,” says Alex Granger, GM Sales and marketing of the SCC.
The Sandton Convention Centre experienced an increase of 27% in exhibition business from 2007 to 2008, and the number of exhibitions staged at SCC since 2003 have doubled.
Major exhibitions such as MARKEX, WINEX, SECUREX, Sunday Times Food Show and Baba Indaba are just a few of the exciting exhibitions that are hosted by Sandton Convention Centre. The centre is located in the area with the highest visitor attendance, therefore allowing exhibitors to show case their products and services to a huge market.
Alex said he is impressed by the creativity of exhibition organisers. “The array of exhibitions hosted at Sandton Centre has seen the venue being transformed into a totally different space which has shown the creativity of most exhibition organisers who take advantage of the foyer space for tasteful and creative branding, leading visitors to both exhibition levels, not forgetting the café.”
The Sandton Convention Centre's two exhibition levels have a combined floor space of 10 000m², which can accommodate 500 3m x 3m stands in various configurations. Each level has a separate access route to street level docking and loading areas.
The SCC closes 2008 with a bang, hosting two major international events - Soccerex 2008 and Miss World pageant 2008.
