Oz heart-throb Curtis Stone, one of the star attractions at Good Food and Wine Show

Issued by: Cape Gourmet Wine Show
Australian heart-throb celebrity chef Curtis Stone, who works in America and is a bigger name than Jamie Oliver, is one of the star attractions at this year's Good Food and Wine Show at Coca-Cola Dome, Northgate, from October 30 to November 2.

Curtis Stone
Stone's new TV show, Take Home Chef, is now being aired on SABC3 at lunch-time on Saturdays, and he is excited that more South Africans will become familiar with his brand.

People magazine voted him one of the sexiest men alive. He has set female hearts aflutter - and male stomachs a-growling - with his down-to-earth approach to food and cooking. First featured on Surfing the Menu with pal Ben O'Donaghue, he was spotted by the Discovery Network and asked to host Take Home Chef, a television programme that's been running for two years and has a viewership in excess of 10 million. Says Stone: “Lifestyles have changed so much - and that's why our relationship with food has. A few generations ago our mothers, aunts and grans didn't work and had more time to pass on information, recipes and special tips. Nowadays we all look to television and recipe books for that sort of information.”

Patrick Williams
Apart from Stone, five “new” celebrity chefs will also be jetting into Johannesburg for the events there are: British-born Caribbean food maestro Patrick Williams, Irish cooking queen Rachel Allen, Thai food expert David Thompson and the Tanner Brothers, Chris and James.

Returning to South Africa is everybody's favourite chefs, Brian Turner and Andrew Nutter, who were such a success at last year's show and have brought over new cooking ideas,

The show also boasts a Michelin-rated executive chef in Philip Alcock who is based At The Palazzo at Montecasino. He will be one of the star attractions at the Chefs in Action Theatre.

This year there will be more than 300 exhibitors showcasing the latest in food and kitchen trends. The show boasts no fewer than nine state-of-the-art kitchen theatres and food enthusiasts will be able to experience everything from the global ice cream and gelato revolution to the national barista championships.
