Noddy, the world famous unique children's character, celebrated his 60th anniversary late last year and naturally the festivities were carried out in style. The venue was South Africa's premier shopping centre, Sandton City, where the Fountain Court was transformed into Noddy's ever famous magical toy land.

“The biggest treat however came in the form of a train cake that was baked for Noddy and the Reach for a Dream kids courtesy of another world famous children's character, the Pillsbury® Doughboy. Noddy's train cake came complete with chimneys and Pillsbury® wheels,” says Cindy Hall marketing manager of Pillsbury South Africa.
Reach for a Dream is an organisation that endeavours to help children with life threatening illnesses and their families to believe in the power of dreams, to know that tomorrow is worth fighting for and that smiles and fun can still be a part of their lives today.
“Once all the children in the court screamed happy birthday for Noddy at the top of their tiny lungs, he cut the giant cake and graciously shared with every single person that was in attendance. These children got the opportunity to experience a Christmas like never before, they met Noddy, had pictures taken with him, watched fun interactive shows, ate his cake and took a magical train ride through the shopping centre,” says Hall.
He pulled out all the stops to celebrate this historical event bringing his equally famous best fiends, Big Ears and Tessie Bear. The festivities were not limited to one day however. Sandton City hosted Noddy and his friends until the day before Christmas. There was all sorts of fun activities where kids had their faces painted, took photos with Santa as well as made and ate their own Noddy treats using a variety of Pillsbury® muffins and ice frosting, sweets and edible paper.
