Oils for (South) Africa

Euro Africa Lubricants (EAL) has secured an exclusive distribution agreement with Q8, a leading fuels and lubricant brand abroad, particularly in Europe where it holds a dominant position in most markets. The agreement will make the Q8Oils brand of lubricants available in the region for the first time.

The introduction of the range in southern Africa, under its distinctive “Q8 sails” logo, is a major achievement for the local company.

Alicia Beilings, EAL's Marketing Manager says, “The agreement is a coup for us as a mid-market player, and a significant step forward for southern Africa. The introduction of the brand will elevate the quality and standard of lubricants presently available to automotive, industrial and agricultural consumers within the region.”

The brand, through its agreement with EAL now has a foothold in the increasingly sophisticated and growing southern African lubricants market.

Stuart Duff, Business Development Manager for Kuwait Petroleum International Limited (KPIL) (UK) - Q8Oils holding company says, “Accounting for the quality of our products and that of the competition, KPIL saw an opportunity for the brand in the southern African market. There is significant OEM [original equipment manufacturer] demand in this country for quality lubricants, and we have the expertise to provide that.”

“EAL have a structured approach, a good team and are technically well equipped for the market. Our distributors are not viewed in a conventional supplier/customer affiliation, but it tends rather to be a hands-on relationship where we carry-out visits, provide papers, training and other support,” says Duff.

The products have been available nationally from March 2008, and supplementary lines will be added throughout the year.
