Namibia Breweries Ltd, Diageo Plc and Heineken International BV are engaged in negotiations relating to a restructuring of their existing joint venture in South Africa, brandhouse Beverages (Pty) Ltd, it was announced on Wednesday.

Namibia Breweries said these negotiations also include the formation of a second joint venture, which will have licensed distribution rights, resulting in each party sharing in the profits of their combined beer, cider and ready-to-drink brands in South Africa.

"In the opinion of the parties, the transaction is intended to increase the competitiveness of their combined beer, cider and ready-to-drink portfolio in the South African market," it added.
