Prizes worth R75 000 up for grabs in Pillsbury Bake-Off Contest

South Africa's kitchen divas are set to compete for prizes worth R75 000 in the Pillsbury Bake-Off® Contest, a national competition open for entries now.
Contestants are invited to submit original recipes using any combination of Pillsbury baking mix products. Three finalists will be invited to compete at the Bake-Off® in May 2009, with recipes being judged on appropriate use of products, taste, appearance and consumer appeal.

The contest, held annually in the United States since 1949, has been brought to South Africa for the first time by Pillsbury, in association with Ideas & Idees magazine and the Food & Beverage Institute. All three finalists will receive a Miele steam oven, a pastry course with renowned pastry chef Nicolas van der Walt of the Food & Beverage Institute and a year's supply of Pillsbury products. The winner will also receive a Miele fridge freezer.

Entry forms are available in the October 2008 issue of Ideas & Idees magazine as well as 162 Pick n Pay supermarkets and 19 Pick n Pay hypermarkets around the country.

Contestants should post their recipes to Pillsbury Bake-Off® Contest, PO Box 4361, Dainfern 2055 or email them to pillsburybakeoff@africamoon.co.za.

Each entry should include the contestant's full name and contact details, an ingredients list including garnishes and the Pillsbury products used, a full list of equipment with sizes and complete instructions including measurements.

Entries close end November 2008 and finalists will be notified in April 2009.
