The International Franchise Expo (IFE) 2010, hosted by the Franchise Association of Southern Africa (FASA), will take place 6-8 May 2010 at the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa. The exhibition aims to bring together about 100 exhibitors from a range of business concepts and brands. 
The end of last year saw Roman's Pizza open its 111th store and garner recognition at the 2009 Orange Index Service Awards in the fast food category and second place in the Sunday Times Top Brands 2009 pizza category after making its fast food category debut in 2008 in sixth place. 
Nando's restaurant in Adderley Street is one of its flagship stores, serving a variety of clientele representing the mix of cultures and demographics of the Mother City. Recently revamped, its contemporary new look, which incorporates local flavours, the traditional warm Nando's family vibe and great historical elements of one of the most iconic locations in the central CBD, fits in flawlessly with the vibey street and fast pace of its customers. 
“Since the closing of our Gateway store, News Cafe has been actively investigating potential sites and the new News Cafe Umhlanga Rocks will once again ensure a strong brand presence in the Umhlanga area,” said Alan van der Westhuizen, News Cafe GM Restaurant Division, on the launch. 
News Cafe will open in Delhi India in November 2009 and, with shop fittings currently underway in Hyderabad, the second store opening is expected mid-January 2010, with Mumbai following end March 2010. 
Kanhym has announced that it will be offering fresh meat deli franchises to committed and motivated owner-operators. The first store has opened in Gift Acres in Pretoria. 
Fast food restaurant chain Famous Brands on Monday, 26 Ocotber 2009, reported first half diluted headline earnings a share of 91 cents, a 16.6% increase from the 78 cents reported for its first half last year.
